People have ask me why are you so involved in Equine Welfare? I guess the short of it is it is so one sided that common sense says it must be changed if only for the sake of fair play. The I side of it is when I saw and understood how unbalance it is I could not look away. After Educating Myself I Spent the time it takes to, from scratch, build a Sport's Herd and train, and care for it everyday 7 days a week 365 days a yeas for 20 some years. It's takes a lot of mental and physical effort.and Love of Horses, Aminals and Planet.
.The other part of the answer is that I'm a Sagittarius and I have drawn a lot of strenght from a reoccuring dream I had as a child of standing as a Horse watching a small black child holding my Bridle all night outside a meeting house where George Washington and his Generals were planning to cross the Delware at dawn in a cold winter that Froze to death the small Boy.
I started with Horses in 1946 after working at racetracks and at Horse farms around Ohio I couldn't quite put together the reason people handled Horses the way they did but I realized some of the reason was Horses were treated the way they were is that Horses are consider Property.
In the winter of 1951 I found myself at Charlestown West Virginia with two Racing Horses Named Corporal Sonny and Minor Profit Because of the amount of Horses at the meet, you entered your Horse in a race and if it was filled you recived a star and with enought stars you were put into a race on turns. Dec 10th I got Corporal Sonny into a race, on the 11th. That Night the Snow came so hard it closed the meet down for the rest of that year. The 12th of December I recived My Draft Notice to report to Ft Jackson SC. According to the racing record books in the spring of 1952 Corporal Sonny won his first 3 races paying 100 to 1 in the first race. They didn't know or keep up the treatments I had been giving him so his leg problem came back.
Once there at Ft Jackson I was put into Charlie Company and started Basic Training. We were lead by a Officer who had been to Korea and was interested in going back with a well trained Company. In training I was promoted to Squad Leader. On the 16 th week of a 16 week cycle we were on field training when I got a emergence leave as my eldest brother was on his death bed with TB. When I got home, at that time we lived in Canton Ohio, I went to the Hospital. I went into the room and spoke a few words to Craig and the Dortors came in to tap his spine to draw fluid out to releive the pressure. He died during the Spine Tap. .I returned to Ft Jackson but my Company had shipped over Seas. I was put into another Co to finish Bacic Training. I got sick and went to the Base Hospital in a comma. When I awoke after days beening in the comma there at the door of my room was Jack Horne from Boston Mass.the Guide On of Co C that had shipped out without me. He was standing with one leg and I ask Him what happened? He said He lead us into a trap. and everyone was killed but since I didn't carry a weapon they cut off my leg and sent me back to tell the story. I have never seen him since. I of course went into shock and denial.
After getting out of the Army in 1954 I went to Ohio State University where I did 3 years of College then left and went back to working with Horses. The Horses Deserve a payday and I know if I had told the guys in our Company about the Plight of the Horse they would all to the last man Help. If you read the material I have written about the Horses you can see why. So Please help us anyway you can
Since My Brother and I both served in the Korean War , He got the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart in Korea. I feeled compiled to ask all Americans to Think about Peaceful ways to settle problems before we allow our Goverment to enter into such a unintellengence way to settle problems. Truth is our greatest hope to solve the problems on the Planet and in our daily lives. With the Money we spent in warring we could of bought most places we fight in and had the people as friends supporting and buying our goods and service.
The way we raised our Herd was, . Mares ran on 200 Hundred Acres and the Stallions on 100 Acres. ,to bad I lossed the farm but when my wife was dianosed with cancer things went down hill from there.
There are 13 teen Horses in the herd at this time and the page Horses at Looked over farms tells things about them and training they are reciving..
One of the Stallions we have is called, Zodiac the Listener, that is in a pasture that is straight and long and one day as I was working on the petition he started to run so hard for no reason that I had to stop and go out to calm him down as I thouhgt he would jump or run thru the fence. It made me think that Horses read your mind as I was writing the petition on giving the Horse a payday in America and.I thought he was running for Joy. He is the Stallion I talk about in www.freehorse.mysite.com setting a new world record in height, now it's 8 ft 1inch i/4 held by a South American Horse named Huaso
The Horses and I feel they are entitled to a part of the money they earn for people in different activies that they participate in like, Racing, Jumping, Dessage, Cutting and any act they particiapate in which humans make money from their efforts with Horses. Horses could take care of their own, problems and not haft to depended on people to do any thing for them but enjoy their relationship.
September 9th 2009 The lesson that we should take out of 9/11 is that: We are one Nation under God with Liberty and Justice for all. In the words taken from a Beautiful Religous Song of Old; ": AS HE DIED TO MAKE MEN HOLY LET US LIVE TO MAKE THEM FREE HIS TRUTH IS MARCHING ON".. When God created people he told them to be fruitful fill the earth and then subduce it. . We are now in the subduting stage of time.
Jan 20 th A beautiful Filly Colt Born named Freedom Song.
Jan 22 nd 09 After 2 days of cold the little filly is up and runing. Thank God she came into this world with a full winter coat so she is warm and happy. Her poor mother has to chase her down because of her excess energy. She is the most active colt I've seen with so much energy so early in life..
Jan 23 rd 09 This morning she put her head into the feed bucket and smelled around. I'm so blessed and she is so cute and beautiful.
Feb 19 th 09 Little Freedom's Song was singing and running today. Running is her favorite thing to do. She eats out of the bucket and would prefer to do that only. She is still shy but a little more playful with me and likes to be touched but can be stand offish. Weather is cold so not much but holding it together is happening.
Feb 22 nd Freedom's Song is still interested in eating out of the bucket and at the end of feeding the stallion and two mares in the pasture Freedom and I get together and she eats out of the bucket and I stand there wanting to pick her up in my arms as she is so little and pitete that it draws me to her.
March 21 st First day of a long awaited Spring. Freedom's Song has changed her engery to jumping up in the air and doing above ground movements. I'm told that few Horses come in the world doing above ground movements anymore. If the movements are not in a Horse you can't put them there with the Grace and Style that God puts there when they send them in to serve. humans till the end of time.
May 25th Looked Over Farms Memorial For Horses is all about remembering the past and on this Memorial day we ask you to say a slient Prayer for the Brave Men and Woman Soliders and Horses who gave us all they had for our Freedom. If we could train Third World Countries like Afganistain to have a Horse Calvery as we did they would make the same progress in their back Country as we did in settling the West in our Country.
Very Cold rain for the last couple days and Zoe the Stallion puts on a Show each time I go to Feed Him, He can stay on his back legs longer than any Horse I've ever seen rear, he boxes and bucks and the harder I laught the stronger he gets. I think he will like being shown as he likes to show off. Since it is muddy in the Pasture I try to keep him in a little check with my voice. That why I tagged his name Zodiac, the listerner
Dec 18 th First snow of the Season and Freedom's Song is trying to get her mother and the rest of the herd to be as exicited as she is. I told her good luck with that as the only colt that is interested is Perfect Sense. The older Horses act as if youth is wasted on the young.
Dec 21st Happy Birthday to me. Since I'm a Hobbit I give gifts on my Birthday so that I can get Gifts all year long. So if you read this expect to have a GREAT DAY
.
March Over the weekend I saw the Ads for the up and coming Kentucky Derby. Their main theme is that they had over a 100 Years of History of running this Horse Race. That is True but thru the eye of the Thoroughbred Race Horse that adds up to over 100 years of Horse Abuse. They use, in one of their ads, the name of Barbaro who suffered a bruetal Death of blowing out a Ankle. Its like the bigger the Story they tell the more belivible it is as they claim to Congress weak legs in breeding was the cause of theses miscarraige of Justice instead of the real cause of running theses Babies to soon. When God created, He laid out a maturation program for all his Creatures. You just haft to work with Horses long enought to understand that One year of Human growth is 3 years of a Horses Growth. So a Three year old Horse is Nine Years old in Human Age. As Lincoln put it," You can fool all the People some of the time and some of the People all the time but you can't fool all the People all the Time.
The Horse Industry has refused Gods Truths of maturation because of rapid turn over of Horses creates more profit as no cost of keeping a Horse...
